QuickBooks is overkill for simple books. Forge isn't.

If your business has one or two accounts and a single set of books, you are paying for software built for companies ten times your size. Forge is the alternative — an AI bookkeeping agent that keeps your books current and shows you exactly where you stand, for a fraction of the price. And when you need a real CPA to check the numbers, one is a click away.

What Forge does

Forge is an AI bookkeeping agent for businesses with very simple books — think one or two financial accounts and a single entity. You connect your accounts; Forge gathers and organizes your statements, categorizes the activity, flags anything that looks off, and keeps everything current. You watch it come together in a live dashboard — your real numbers, always up to date, in plain sight.

At the do-it-yourself level, Forge is a dashboard, not a report writer. It shows you where you stand; it does not print formal financial statements. That is the point — it's a clean, cheap way to keep simple books without the bloat. When you need polished reports, that is where a professional comes in.

Where the CPA comes in

Forge on its own is a tool. Connect a CPA and it becomes a service. A professional reviews what Forge prepared, makes the edits, finalizes and closes your books — and switches on the things the DIY tier doesn't do, starting with formal Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports. You start cheap and simple, and you add the human exactly when the stakes call for it.

Every number Forge produces is clearly labeled as a calculation to be reviewed by a professional. Forge does the tireless part; the CPA does the part that should never be automated.

What it costs

Forge is its own low-cost subscription — priced below QuickBooks Online, with no free tier. It is deliberately simple at launch (single entity, one or two accounts) and grows as we add capability — the CPA connection, formal reports, and later billing, payments, and payroll. Because it is early, beta users lock in a 5-year discount. Final pricing will be set before launch.

Why I am building this

I have always had one job: give my clients as much value as possible. The AI wave is going to push a lot of business owners toward cheap tools that quietly leave them on their own. I would rather hand you the tool myself — and stay in your corner. That is the whole idea behind Forge.

Want first access to the beta?

Forge is not live yet — it is in active development, and getting it right will take time. We are building it deliberately. The idea is simple: start with us, and grow with us. Add your name to the early list and we will reach out when your spot is ready — early beta users lock in a 5-year discount.

Forge is software in development that performs calculations and organizes records; its output is preliminary and must be reviewed by a professional. It is not tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and not an assurance or attest service. Josh Mauer CPA, LLC, Overland Park, KS.
